The House of Culture

The house was built in 1889 by Mr Fabre as a bakery. In 1903, Juan Manuel Pereyra bought the house and transformed the façade. When Juan Manuel and his wife passed away the property went into the hands of their sons: Maruja and Carlos Pereyra. In 1895, the Pereyra siblings transferred the property to the town hall of Villa Nueva in order to establish a regional museum.

Today, the museum offers three halls:

Hall A: CENSO AMICI(artist)
Remains of the church Nuestra Señora del Rosario donated by Mr. Moyano (1897), pictures of houses, etc.

Hall B: EVARISTO ARIAS (first teacher)
Parchment of the inauguration of the cultural house, collection of coins, inscriptions, etc.

Hall C: Maruja Pereyra (lady of the city)
Elements of the Pereyra family.

Gaucho Hall: leather elements that gauchos used such as hats, lass with balls,etc.

Colonial backyard: typical elements from the field.

La Casa de la Cultura

Esta casa fue construida en 1889 por el señor Fabro como una panadería. En 1903 Juan Manuel Pereyra compró la casa y transformó su fachada. Cuando Juan Manuel y su esposa mueren la propiedad pasa a poder de sus hijos: Maruja y Carlos Pereyra. En 1895, los hermanos Pereyra transfieren la propiedad a la municipalidad de Villa Nueva para que se estableciera un museo regional.

Hoy el museo ofrece 3 salas:

Sala A: CENSO AMICI (artista plástico)

Restos de la Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Rosario donada por el señor Moyano (1897), fotografías de casas, etc

Sala B: EVARISTO ARIAS (primer maestro)

Pergamino de la inauguración de la casa de la cultura, colección de monedas, inscripciones, etc

Sala C: MARUJA PEREYRA (dama de la ciudad) Elementos de la familia Pereyra

SALA GAUCHA:

Elementos de cuero de uso gaucho, sombreros, boleadoras, etc

THIS IS A BLOG WHICH CONTAINS SOME RELEVANT FACTS ABOUT THE HISTORY OF SOME PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS IN VILLA NUEVA. IT WAS PRODUCED BY 5° YEAR STUDENTS FROM INSTITUTO INMACULADA CONCEPCIÓN. THIS PROJECT STARTED AS A CLASSROOM ACTIVITY TO PRACTICE SOME GRAMMATICAL TOPICS IN THE ENGLISH CLASS BUT THEN IT GREW SO LARGE AND INTERESTING THAT OTHER SUBJECTS GOT INVOLVED. AMONG THEM, HISTORY, LANGUAGE, AND GEOGRAPHY. THROUGH THE PROJECT STUDENTS INVESTIGATED, READ, AND INTERVIEWED LOCAL PEOPLE.
